The reported transfer value of Alex Iwobi does not make for pleasant viewing amid another terrible display for Everton.

Back in the summer of 2019, the Nigerian winger made the move from London to Merseyside, as the Toffees paid Arsenal a fee reported to be in the region of £40m for the player’s services.

Since then, however, star performances have been hard to come by, with Iwobi scoring just three goals in 70 Premier League appearances for Everton.

Perhaps partly due to these underwhelming outings, the CIES Football Observatory – a group that does exclusive research and statistical analysis on players to develop a powerful econometric approach that assesses the transfer value of professional footballers on a scientific basis – has suggested that the 25-year-old is now worth somewhere between €10-€15m, which is as low as £8.3m.

TIF Thoughts on Alex Iwobi and Everton…

Over the weekend, the Everton winger started as his team fell to a very disappointing 2-0 loss in the Premier League away from home against Southampton.

Indeed, goals from Stuart Armstrong and Shane Long meant Frank Lampard’s team returned to Liverpool with no points for their efforts and it seems as though Iwobi was one of the men culpable for the defeat.

According to the player ratings in the Liverpool Echo, the former Gunner put in a 5/10 display, being ‘guilty of giving the ball away needless on a number of occasions’ and regularly making ‘the wrong choices’.

No doubt, performances such as that do not make the lowly estimation on Iwobi’s transfer worth such a surprise.
