Journalist Pete O’Rourke suggests that Celtic will face fierce competition for highly rated Bristol City forward Antoine Semenyo as Ange Postecoglou looks to improve squad.

Semenyo has featured 19 times in the Championship this season for Bristol City, notching six goals whilst registering eight assists.

This form has sparked interest from clubs including Nottingham Forest and Watford, but Celtic are the latest club to show interest, according to O’Rourke.

He told GiveMeSport, “I’m sure Celtic and I know a number of English clubs are also keeping an eye on Semenyo as well. I think Forest tried to sign him in the January transfer window, along with several other clubs. I’m sure Premier League clubs are maybe looking at him because he is a top young player.”

After these comments from O’Rourke, clubs may have to act fast in the summer if they want to get their man.

TIF Thoughts on Celtic’s reported interest in Antoine Semenyo…

Semenyo has received plaudits for his performances as of late, with the striker picking the Championship’s Player of the Month award for January – and rightly so having scored five goals and registered five assists in his last eight games.

He’s just as lethal as Jota is at Celtic, too, with both players having a 15% goal conversion rate.

The 22-year-old could be a great addition to the Celtic side as they look to push on to bounce back and win the SPFL after the failure last campaign.

However, if an English Premier League side does come calling, it may be hard for the young forward to opt against a move to the highest level of English football.

But the jump from the Championship to the Premier League is a big one, so maybe a move to the SPFL could benefit Semenyo.

He could look to follow in the footsteps of someone like Odsonne Edouard, who established himself with Celtic and earned himself a move to Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
