Leeds United defender Robin Koch is the latest addition to the casualty list for Marcelo Bielsa’s side and has thanked the fans and medical staff on Twitter following his the injury he sustained at the weekend.

Koch is naturally a central defender, but due to injuries to players such as Kalvin Phillips, he has had to offer his services in the heart of the midfield this campaign.

With his recent injury in the derby against Manchester United on the weekend, he took to Twitter to update the fans.

He tweeted on Monday: “Thank you for your many messages. I wanted to support the team for longer yesterday, but unfortunately I couldn’t do it. Thanks to our medical staff for the good care. I feel much better today and will be back soon.”

TIF Thoughts on the Robin Koch tweet…

Although Koch suffered a head injury on Saturday against the Red Devils, he managed to play on for a further 20 minutes until he was deemed not fit enough to play. This has come to the anger of many, such as the PFA, which has called for the introduction of temporary substitutions for head injuries.

Koch’s tweet implied that he wanted to carry on and compete in the clash between the rivals to help his side, but he physically couldn’t. Although it is unfortunate that he will miss games due to the injury, the player’s safety has to come first, especially when discussing head injuries.

He should have come off immediately, but the adrenaline spurred him on for another 20 minutes, and he is lucky that he is feeling better.

Koch is set to miss Wednesday’s clash with Liverpool and possibly the fixture at the weekend against Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur after Leeds confirmed that concussion protocols will be followed before the German returns to action, which is probably for the best.
