Everton youngster Anthony Gordon has taken to Instagram to vent his frustration after his side lost their most recent match.

Over the weekend, the Toffees fell to a narrow defeat in the Premier League as they plunged further towards the drop.

However, with margins so thin between Everton and Manchester City, one refereeing decision has left those connected with the hosts rather frustrated.

Indeed, during the game, City midfielder Rodri seemed to clearly handle the ball inside his own penalty area, only for VAR official Chris Kavanagh to deem it not worthy of punishment.

Taking to social media after the game, Gordon clearly alluded to the decision as he wrote: “An unjustly way to lose yesterday! We deserved much more but performances like that will get us where we want to be. Together always.”

It seems as though Gordon was not alone in his sentiment. Indeed, in their match report, BBC Sport described the incident as an ‘obvious offence’ saying: “The visitors’ hard work would have been undone had VAR official Chris Kavanagh not let Rodri off the hook for what appeared an obvious offence before the end.”

Meanwhile, manager Frank Lampard could not hide his rage after the game, claiming his three-year-old daughter could have spotted the mistake and that it was a display of ‘incompetence at best’.

Although Gordon is clearly annoyed by the result, he would have likely been pleased to have got another start under his belt as he becomes a well-trusted part of his new manager’s setup.

Still, with Everton edging closer to the relegation zone, they certainly need a few decisions to fall their way in the coming weeks.
