Broadcaster Richard Keys has taken to Twitter to comment on the sacking of Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds United.

Following Leeds’ embarrassing defeat away to Liverpool last week, Keys questioned whether Bielsa would have been sacked by then if he was English – and just a few days and one more defeat later, the Argentine was out the door at Elland Road.

The latest defeat at home to Tottenham Hotspur – which saw them go 3-0 down after just 27 minutes – was seemingly the straw that broke the camel’s back, as on Sunday morning, it was made official that Bielsa had been sacked by the Leeds board.

Keys, though, instead of showing sympathy towards Bielsa, who’d taken Leeds from the Championship into the Premier League, tweeted out: ‘Looks like I did know what I was talking about after all….’

TIF Thoughts on Bielsa being sacked…

It must have been a very difficult decision for the Leeds board and clearly, a tough one for fans to take given the reception Bielas got when he left the training ground yesterday, however, 2 wins from 12 matches is the sort of form that could easily have sent Leeds back into the Championship.

The fact that Keys believes that his interesting take of Bielsa’s nationality had any sort of impact on whether or not he remained in a job does nothing to help his own image in the UK and will likely not even be entertained as a serious point by Leeds fans.
