Dharmesh Sheth has been speaking on Sky Sports’ The Transfer Show about how likely it is that Newcastle United will sign Jesse Lingard.
It has been reported by The Telegraph that Newcastle are indeed still pushing to sign Lingard this month, with the Magpies looking to bring in the midfielder on loan until the end of the season.

Manchester United appear to be willing to sanction a deal for Lingard if they receive a good enough loan fee, with ESPN claiming this could be around the £5 million mark, but with less than a week remaining of the window, time is ticking on any potential deal.
Speaking on Monday evening, Sheth dropped an update on Newcastle’s pursuit of Lingard.
He said: “Newcastle United are still pushing to sign Jesse Lingard – talks [are] ongoing over a loan deal; it’s a complicated one to do, though. [Manchester] United, if they are to let him go on loan, will want a substantial loan fee, and the likelihood is they would want Newcastle to pay the majority, if not all of Jesse Lingard’s wages.
“If all of that can be agreed, there’s still an obstacle: does Jesse Lingard actually want to go to Newcastle? So there are lots of obstacles to get over before Newcastle United can even think Jesse Lingard could be our player.”

Newcastle United will be hopeful of making a breakthrough in the coming days with no matches to get in the way of any business, however, as it’s been proven by the Failed attempts to land Diego Carlos, PIF won’t be held to ransom over any deal.
Lingard would bring some Premier League experience as well as a midfielder who can actually score goals – as the ones that have started regularly under Eddie Howe are not prolific goalscorers in the Premier League. Even Joe Willock, who went through a purple patch last season, has not hit the same heights this campaign, highlighting how useful Lingard could be to this Newcastle team.
