Alli’s future appears to be very bleak at the minute as the midfielder was left out of his side’s latest matchday squad, but Newcastle United could hand him a career lifeline, with claims suggesting that the Magpies are set to open talks with the midfielder.

The Magpies are desperately in need of someone that can create chances as they’ve mustered up just 32 goal-creating actions in the league, with only three teams recording fewer (as per FBRef), and if Eddie Howe could get Alli back to his best form from a few seasons ago, they could land a very talented footballer.

While Alli is nowhere near the peak of his powers anymore, there is clearly a talented player in there somewhere – you just have to look at the attacking numbers he was putting up under Mauricio Pochettino to suggest it might just be that he needs a manager who can put an arm around him and make the midfielder feel like he’s a special talent who’s wanted at the club.
