Phil Hay has been speaking about what happened at Leeds United to see Cody Drameh leave on loan.

It may well have come as a big surprise to a lot of Leeds fans when they saw Drameh was being sent out on loan to Cardiff City, leaving them with no cover to Luke Ayling, while Stuart Dallas is often being utilised in other positions.

Will Leeds upgrade their squad this month?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Drameh has not been handed sufficient appearances in the league this season having spent just 128 minutes on the pitch in the Premier League, but Marcelo Bielsa had spoken in his press conference about how he didn’t think Drameh needed to play games anywhere else.

Hay has been speaking about what happened to make Drameh leave on loan on the latest episode of The Phil Hay Show.

“From what I’ve been told, my assumption would be that because he wanted to go, the view was taken that it was better to let him go than it was to hold him back here.”

TIF Thoughts on Drameh leaving Leeds…

Drameh is only 20 years old but should be congratulated for being so eager to get regular first-team football instead of being content with playing as a backup in a Premier League team, although it does now leave Leeds short in terms of depth.

Leeds may have been able to get through the season and almost limp into the summer transfer window with Drameh and other youngsters providing alternatives to first-team options, but this deal could now force Leeds’ hand in the transfer market, which may appear a bad move at present, although in the long term, it could benefit the team if they want Drameh to eventually replace Ayling.
