Phil Hay has been speaking about Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips and his potential early return from injury.

Kalvin Phillips has been a huge miss for Leeds this season having won just once without him in the league all campaign and they will have to keep trying to grind out results without him as the midfielder underwent surgery on his hamstring last year.

Would Kalvin Phillips keep Leeds up?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

With Phillips originally set to be out until March according to The Athletic, but if he was able to return that would give the whole club a lift because he’s such a huge part of Marcelo Bielsa’s side, but may also save them some money in this transfer window by not signing a stop-gap even on loan.

Hay has been speaking about how Leeds are hopeful of an early return for Phillips, on The Phil Hay Show.

(46:50) “Obviously, Phillips and Cooper are still missing, I think Leeds are quietly hopeful actually that Philips might beat the kind of March return date but we’ll have to see.”

TIF Thoughts on Phillips…

Phillips has started every league game this season when fit and available to do so and has been a regular under Bielsa ever since he arrived at the club which has seen him become an England regular as well, so there’s no doubt that an early return from injury would give everyone a massive lift, potentially away from relegation.

Despite having missed nine games in the league this season, Phillips has still won the most tackles out of anyone in the squad (FBRef), such is his influence and impact on the sie and highlighting how much he does in his role as the midfield pivot and protector.
