Express Sport journalist Ryan Taylor has been speaking on his YouTube channel about Everton’s interest in Dwight McNeil.
Everton have been one of the busiest teams in this transfer window, having brought in two new full-backs as well as selling a regular over the past few seasons in Lucas Digne, but their business does not appear to be slowing down.
Would El Ghazi be an upgrade at Everton?

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Toffees are in talks to bring in Aston Villa winger Anwar El Ghazi, with talks seemingly progressing quickly, but even though they already have an abundance of wingers and are looking to add the Dutchman, they still remain interested in Burnley winger McNeil.
Taylor has claimed that the Toffees are still very much interested in the winger.
He said: “Another interesting point with Everton… is they retain an interest in Dwight McNeil. Now, I was doing some digging into this story a couple of months ago because obviously, Everton were interested last summer.
“From what I understand, I believe McNeil has got a significant release clause in his Burnley contract. I’ve been unable to confirm the figure; it would be interesting to know as well if there’s a relegation clause included in his Clarets deal that he signed last October, I believe. Benitez loves McNeil.”

With Burnley having just sold their number-one striker to relegation rivals Newcastle United in the form of Chris Wood, it appears extremely unlikely that they would sanction the sale of McNeil, who has created the most shot-scoring actions at the club this season (FBRef).
Rafael Benitez not only appears to have the full backing of the board despite recent results, but also in the transfer market – though for them to land McNeil, it would likely require a huge bid and they would also surely have to sell one of their wingers already at the club. What is clear, however, is that Everton’s interest in McNeil from the summer has certainly not gone away.
