Newcastle United fans have been reacting to claims surrounding a potential move for Seko Fofana.
Having partly addressed their defensive needs with the signing of Kieran Trippier and sorted out a replacement for the injured Callum Wilson in the form of Chris Wood, there is still plenty of work for Newcastle to do as they continue their battle against relegation.
One area is central midfield, where no player has scored more than one goal so far this season. One solution could come in the form of the aforementioned Fofana, who is proving far more potent when it comes to scoring goals, with seven goals in 22 appearances for current side Lens this season.
According to a tweet from Foot Mercato journalist Sebastien Denis, Lens have not received any offers for his services, but Newcastle are one of a number of clubs showing an interest in signing him, alongside fellow Premier League sides Leeds United and Burnley.
This news was relayed to fans by @NUFC360 on Twitter for them to react to, with many excited to see the Toon linked with the 26-year-old Ivorian:
“This guy would transform our midfield, absolute boss in the middle”
Is Fofana a realistic target?
Yes
No
There’s still time in the window for Newcastle to bring Fofana in, but given there’s some competition for him, the Magpies may need to be quick in order to get their man before anybody else does.
