Derby County fans have been reacting to the performance of Tom Lawrence during their latest game in the Championship.

Whilst relegation has long looked a certainty for large parts of the season following their points deductions having come into the game 11 points behind their opponents Reading, who are just above the drop zone, it now looks like safety could well be within reach if they can pick up some results between now and the end of the season.

Do you know the record signing for these Championship sides? Let's see if you do, starting with Fulham

However, they weren’t able to win the match, fighting back from 2-0 down to secure a 2-2 draw away to the Royals that will act as a major kick in the teeth to their survival hopes.

Part of the reason they weren’t able to pick up a result, at least according to fans online, was down to their 27-year-old captain Lawrence, whom many fans accused of having put in an apparent lack of effort and being anonymous during the game:

“Lawrence been poor again”

“Lawrence AWOL”
“Don’t just want to bash Lawrence but he’s strolled through that half. Epitomised by his choice to not make a run to the penalty spot for a tap in from Knight’s pull back. May be harsh but he HAS to do more”
“Need a spark… time for Lawrence to turn up!”
“Has Tom Lawrence even touched the ball yet??”
“Tom Lawrence making it like we have 10 men.”
“Tom Lawrence ghosting in a big game again who is surprised!”

It’s not exactly the ideal review you want of a captain nor during such an important game. Hopefully, this isn’t something that becomes a regular occurrence in the second half of the season, or their relegation fight might not last long.
