A lot of Celtic fans have flocked to Twitter to voice their thoughts on a transfer claim to emerge regarding Japanese midfielder Yosuke Ideguchi.

It has been claimed by Yahoo Sports Japan that Ideguchi is set to travel to Glasgow before the end of the year to complete a potential move to Celtic, believed to be worth in the region of £900k.

The 25-year-old is currently playing his football out in Japan with Gamba Osaka after completing a move from English Premier League side Leeds United in 2019 (via Transfermarkt).

With Ange Postecoglou reportedly showing strong interest in another J1 League player after the success Kyogo Furuhashi has proven to be, fans flocked to Twitter to share their thoughts on the rumour.

What did these Celtic fans have to say?

“That’s disappointing. He’s woeful.”

If @aishiterutokyo player reports are anything to go by this is a strange signing, he couldn’t get a game in the championship for Leeds and struggled for game time in the lower leagues of Spain and Germany too”
“From what’s been said he’s the weakest of the 3 J league players we’re in for…. Maybe falls into the low risk, possible high return bracket we historically love.”
“Ange knows what he wants. Let’s be honest if his career rejuvenates at Celtic he’s can become one hell of a player”
“Is this the lad with the knee injury?”
“This is low risk high reward signing 900k is nothing”

Ideguchi has featured prominently for Gamba in the league campaign this season with 29 appearances while playing in a number of different roles across the midfield (via Transfermarkt).

There is clearly some concern among these fans, and that may come from the 25-year-old’s lack of goal contributions, with just one goal and zero assists to his name across his 41 appearances in the 2020/21 campaign.
