Phil Hay has been speaking about the severity of Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford’s latest injury.

Bamford had missed nine games in a row for Leeds United in the Premier League but was named on the bench last week, and he was duly needed by Marcelo Bielsa as the striker proved how important he is to the side when he popped up with a 95th-minute equaliser.

Should Leeds sell Tyler Roberts?

No!

Just as some Leeds fans may have been coming down from the euphoria of that late goal at Elland Road, they have been rocked by the news of Bamford, Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper picking up fresh injuries, although the former’s may not be too serious.

Hay has been speaking about Bamford’s injury on The Phil Hay Show.

He said: “Bielsa wouldn’t go into the severity of any of it, it just depends on the evolution. Bamford’s, from what I understand, is the least severe of the three. I don’t think either Cooper’s or Phillips’ is great and I think they’re going to be looking at fairly lengthy stretches.”

TIF Thoughts on Bamford…

It will be a massive blow to Bielsa if Bamford is ruled out for any period of time having spent so long nursing him back to full fitness, only for the striker to get injured during a 22-minute cameo against Brentford.

Bamford is so important to Leeds and you just have to look at how clear he was as their top scorer last season and that he’s scored the second-most in the league for Leeds this season despite missing nine games.

Also, the likes of Rodrigo and Tyler Roberts clearly haven’t cut it at the club – particularly this season, when they have a combined total of three goals from 27 appearances in the Premier League.
