Celtic had a very good Boxing Day, brushing aside a plucky St Johnstone 3-1 after a brace from Liel Abada got them underway in the first half, before Nir Bitton secured the game late on.

Abada’s double will have been a huge relief to Celtic as the already depleted side suffered another blow in the first half, with Kyogo Furuhashi going off injured.

If Abada can keep up the form he showed today, that will be vital for Celtic. Without top scorers Jota and Furuhashi, someone has to step up.

Abada certainly did that today, being the main man in a must win game for the Hoops, and leaving the fans delighted with his performance.

What the Celtic fans said about Abada

“Wow, Abada turned up today, been great so far.” @hoops78

“What did Abada have for his cereal this morning?” @RyzenT7

“Abada omg what a goal!” @awaisissdead

“Liel aGOODa.” @Alonsoo1888

“Abada has turned up today. Massive performance from him so far today.” @TheTweetofShaun

“Never drop him for Johnston again.” @1Conzobhoy

“Great to see Abada proving the doubters wrong. We can’t keep depending on other teams being poor to win games though. Serious questions also need asked regarding Ange’s training and the amount of injuries we keep getting.” @Celticfan677

“Abada superb! Good three points! Come on.” @DillNich

The Israeli forward will need to improve if he is to successfully fill the gaps left by Jota and Furuhashi, until today, he only had eight goals and eight assists in his 31 appearances, a return you’d have to say not good enough for Celtic when you look how the others have done.
