A large number of Celtic fans have flocked to Twitter to share their delight at the latest update to emerge in the proposed appointment of Bernard Higgins.
The former police commander was reportedly set to join the Parkhead side in a senior security role, however, fan protests against the appointment has seen the Scotsman confirm he will not accept the role.
Were you worried Higgins would get the job?
Yes
No
Higgins’ involvement in the controversial Offensive Behaviour at Football Act has seen numerous protests from the Bhoys fans with tennis balls being thrown on the pitch against Dundee earlier this season.
“To address recent speculation, I can confirm that I will not be joining Celtic FC when I retire from the police on 31 December 2021,” said Higgins’ spokesperson on the reports.
The news came just hours before Ange Postecoglou’s side took to Hampden Park for their Scottish League Cup final against Hibernian and it clearly came to the delight of these Celtic fans.
What did these Celtic fans have to say?
“Brilliant news, now let’s win this cup”
Matters on the field have looked bright in recent weeks for the Bhoys with their recent form almost faultless, however, due to their cup final on Sunday, they now sit seven points adrift of the title charge from their city rivals.
It seems spirits are high among these fans going into the festive schedule which will see the Hoops quickly return their attention to league action with a game on Wednesday against St Mirren.

This was a disgraceful showing from the so-called fans.
Tgey embarrassed themselves, probably the reason Higgins decided not to come on board.
Ignorance in abundance from this bunch of trouble making louts operating under the disguise of fans.
