A lot of Newcastle United fans have flocked to a recent claim to emerge regarding the future of their 24-year-old midfielder Sean Longstaff.
According to journalist Alan Nixon, the midfielder’s future at St. James’ Park is under serious questioning with Championship side Nottingham Forest said to be showing interest.
What should NUFC do with Longstaff?
Keep
Loan
Sell
The report claims Steve Cooper’s side would be interested in a potential January loan for the Newcastle-born ace just months on from Everton reportedly showing some interest.
Eddie Howe’s side have been linked with the likes of Dele Alli and Jesse Lingard as potential January arrivals, and it seems they would be very much in favour of Longstaff departing to free up a spot in the squad.
What did these fans have to say?
“He’s not good enough for PL level. We’ve seen enough to know that. Too slow in both his movement and a reactionary sense. Won’t ever make it at the top level, unfortunately.”
Longstaff’s bright start to life at St. James’ Park has hit the rocks in recent months with the 24-year-old’s opportunities in the starting XI reduced to rare cameos off the bench since October (via Transfermarkt).
And with just five goals and four assists to his name in the 81 appearances for the Magpies, it seems some of these fans do not consider the hometown midfielder to be of the standard required to play in the top-flight.
