Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to the performance of Eric Dier during their Carabao Cup clash.

Tottenham Hotspur are infamously going through of a trophy drought that has lasted for over a decade, and with the club having been kicked out of the UEFA Europa Conference League due to their health issues, the Carabao Cup offers them arguably their best chance of ending that drought this season.

They took on West Ham United at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium in a rather exciting game, and whilst Tottenham did well in some areas, scoring twice in the first-half, that doesn’t mean that everyone was on top of their game.

As demonstrated by the fans commenting online and their remarks towards Dier, as he came in for some fierce criticism, in particular for his part in West Ham’s equaliser in the first-half as he gifted possession away allowing Jarrod Bowen to strike:

“Eric Dier just showed why most spurs fans want him gone”

“Which is why Dier is always a risk. He’s been great under Conte but he always has an error on his game.”
“Dier with an atrocious pass”
“Eric Dier disasterclass”
“Dier in no man’s land again”
“Whilst Dier reverting to type…distribution and turning circle of an oil super tanker”

Do you think that Eric Dier will be a Tottenham Hotspur player at the start of next season?

Having been received praise from his manager that he “can become one of the best players in the world in that position”, this wasn’t exactly the performance to justify his manager’s comments.
