Leeds United fans have been reacting to comments that have emerged from Lewis Bate following his recent game in the club’s academy.

Having signed this past summer from Chelsea for a fee of £1.5m, which has the potential to increase with add-ons, Bate has found himself exclusively playing with the club’s academy side, where has managed to bag one goal and one assist for Mark Jackson’s side so far this season.

And although he has managed to make it onto the first-team bench on a few occasions, a debut appearance for the senior side still eludes him.

Can you remember where Leeds finished in these league seasons? First up: 2018/19

He recently took part in the U23’s 0-0 draw with their Everton counterparts, playing 45 minutes before being replaced by Stuart McKinstry, and after the match, Bate posted some photos to his Twitter page of himself in action alongside the comment: ‘Minutes under the belt’.

This caused a number of Leeds fans to flock to the post to show their support, with some expressing their desire to see him make the step up soon:

“Heard great thing’s Lewis. Can’t wait to see you in the first team in the future.”

“1st team hopefully very soon.”
“Keep the faith young man. Future star. Work hard and you will prosper.”
“Keep it up kidda, your time’s close”
“First team soon”
“Closer and closer to that first team debut”
