Newcastle United fans were buzzing when they saw the ever reliable Fabrizio Romano’s update that contact had been made between Newcastle United and Jesse Lingard.
As previously reported on This is Futbol, Newcastle United are interested in signing Lingard from Manchester United, and now, Romano has updated supporters.
He claims that contact has been made between Lingard and Newcastle, but insists it is still an open race for his signature. One thing Newcastle fans can hold onto, is the fact you would imagine they will be able to outbid anyone with the financial power they now have.

While it has been a disappointing season so far for Lingard, struggling to force his way into the picture at Old Trafford, last season he showed us all what he could do.
When he was given consistent playing time at West Ham United, he managed to score nine goals in the league for them, while laying on five assists for his Hammers teammates. A very good return for 16 appearances. His exploits earned him a Premier League Player of the Month award for April.
If he does make the move to the North East, recapturing that form could be vital to Eddie Howe’s survival charge.
