It’s been known since the takeover that Newcastle United are after a Director of Football to help them execute their transfer plans. They are now turning their attention to two new candidates.

After failing to find the ideal candidate thus far, the Magpies appointed Nick Hammond as a transfer consultant on a short-term basis, probably to help them through January.

“Orta has made some stinking signings at Leeds. They aren’t all Raphinha.” @JamesPo84831486

“Massive drops from what we were linked with a few weeks back.” @Dazzalad2021

“Christ!” @ftbljackk

“Of all the names being linked we are looking at very low candidates. Think we are in for a shock in January.” @Nufc2Everyhting

It’s clear to see the Newcastle supporters are unimpressed with the updates, but time is running out and something needs to be done.

While both Ashworth and Orta haven’t had experience of big transfer budgets at Brighton and Leeds respectively, they both know the Premier League very well after spending time in it already.

Let’s not forget, Orta brought Raphinha to Leeds and look how that worked out! The Brazilian is in inspired from, bagging eight goals and an assist in his 16 Premier League games this season.

It could be interesting to see what type of players he could bring in with a bit more financial backing.
