Leeds United slumped to yet another Premier League defeat after a sorry performance against Arsenal, and Tyler Roberts was heavily criticised by some supporters for his role in the loss.

It was a day to forget for all Whites players at Elland Road after a 4-1 hammering. The 22-year-old played an unwanted part in the fourth and final goal for the Gunners, with some Leeds fans not holding back with their opinions. One even fumed that the Welshman has “zero brain”.

The Athletic’s Phil Hay relayed updates to his followers, with plenty jumping on Roberts in the replies to the journalist’s wording on the goal to make it 4-1 as “Roberts gives the ball away on halfway, Arsenal charge through the middle, Odegaard chips a pass through to Smith-Rowe who smashes a half-volley in”.

How these Leeds fans reacted

“Well done to Tyler Roberts again. Arsenal’s best player.” @gaffo13

“Roberts at fault again… Why is he still playing?” @Burtog1975

“Roberts needs chucking. Anyone says he’s been good for us is misguided. He’s been shocking in the Championship and even worse in the PL. I’m with the team but it’s time to cut loose ends.” @Ju5tJ0sh

“Gave it away again. For all of our injuries and depleted squad, it’s been the senior players making the big mistakes.” @DanP_LUFC

“Oh that one had nothing to do with injuries and depleted squads… That was Tyler at his absolute best.” @SSTmk3

“That’s what happens when players play with a lot of self-belief but zero brain.” @thepraneetc23

Roberts’ role in that fourth goal for Arsenal was indicative of his overall display on the evening. He gave the ball away 13 times in total, lost three of his four duels and failed with seven of his 28 passes, as per SofaScore.

Leeds' all-time top Premier League goalscorer is Mark Viduka but how many did he score?

Despite primarily being a striker, finding the back of the net has proven difficult for the Wales international. He has played 17 Premier League games for the Whites so far this term, only scoring once. This will be a real concern for Marcelo Bielsa, who is still without Patrick Bamford due to injury.

Losing to Arsenal isn’t a disaster for teams fighting relegation, but the manner of this defeat was galling for the Whites. That’s 11 goals shipped in their last two games, with Leeds hovering dangerously close to the drop zone.
