Leeds suffered yet another Premier League defeat this evening, going down 4-1 to Arsenal at Elland Road, with Adam Forshaw coming in for flak from a host of Whites fans.

The 30-year-old was held culpable for the visitors’ first goal, dispossessed by Alexandre Lacazette in his own 18-yard box, with the ball falling to Gabriel Martinelli, who fired home emphatically.

Is Forshaw good enough to start for Leeds?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

It certainly was a moment that Forshaw will want to forget quickly, an absolute howler from the experienced midfielder which drew the ire of many Leeds supporters on social media as he was “ghosted” by the Gunners.

What these Leeds fans said

“Why on earth is Forshaw trying to play the ball out of the box. Get rid of it. Another shocking defensive display by our team.” @Army_Dad6880

“This needs to be addressed. Injuries or not, we look like Sunday league players so often it’s baffling.” @max_gentleman

“What was Forshaw thinking?” @Orangemankw

“You better spend some money in January because this is dross. As it is every week.” @AFin26UK

“Klich, Harrison, Roberts and Forshaw are Championship players. Not good enough. Sentiment is going to take us down #lufc.” @RomanRy12

“If we are man marking all over the pitch… Who is Forshaw marking? Throw every running stat you want at me, the guy gets ghosted every game.” @RichHanvey

In addition to his blunder for the first goal, Forshaw lost four of his duels this evening and failed to record a shot. He also gave away possession nine times over the course of the match, as per SofaScore.

Although the 30-year-old had a pretty torrid game, he wasn’t the only one. Leeds were dismal all over the pitch, with 11 goals conceded in their last two fixtures after their midweek hammering at the hands of Manchester City.

The defeat compounds the misery on the Yorkshire club, who remain 16th thanks to the rest of Saturday’s Premier League fixtures being postponed.

This was a low point in Leeds United's history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?

They have a five-point cushion to the relegation zone, but that could be wiped out with teams beneath them having multiple games in hand. Forshaw and co will need to improve drastically on the “dross” that they produced this evening.
