Plenty of Tottenham Hotspur fans have been left unhappy after hearing the club has ‘concerns’ over the fitness of goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini.

Over the summer, the Italian shot-stopper arrived on a season-long loan deal from parent club Atalanta with the option to make it a permanent deal.

Since then, he has had to play second-fiddle to captain Hugo Lloris – playing just eight games in all competitions, but none in the Premier League. Now, it looks as if he isn’t doing the best job of staking a claim for the number-one role.

Should Spurs sign Pierluigi Gollini permanently?

Indeed, as reported by The Athletic: “There are concerns among some at the club about his fitness.”

The information was shared on social media by The Spurs Web, and it sounds as if it wasn’t particularly well-received by the club’s Twitter fanbase.

Here’s what these Spurs fans said…

“His goalkeeping ability should also raise concerns.”
“Yet to make a save. Worst keeper I think I’ve ever seen.”
“He is actually our worst ever signing.”
“Get rid then.”
“Not fit to wear the shirt.”
“Send him back and get Dean Henderson as Hugo’s successor when he leaves.”

According to Sky Sports, the north London club do have the option to buy Gollini on a permanent deal for £13m if he plays a certain number of games (20) this season.

If these latest rumours regarding his fitness are to be believed, however, it seems like there is every chance the club would want to avoid paying such a fee for the goalkeeper. And so, he may find first-team minutes hard to come by in the second half of the campaign.
