Speaking on the latest YouTube video on the Hammers Chat Forum channel, presenter Gonzo has been speaking about all things West Ham United-related.

The main talking point on the latest video was the future of the former Hammers loanee, Jesse Lingard, who returned back to Manchester United at the end of last season.

Do you want Lingard back at WHU?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Lingard enjoyed a rich vein of form for David Moyes’ side in the second half of the 2020/21 campaign, in which he netted nine goals and provided five assists in 16 Premier League games (via Transfermarkt).

And since returning to Old Trafford, the 28-year-old has had to sit and watch as the Red Devils trail the Hammers by six points, with the east London club finding themselves soaring high in third spot in the table.

It was reported the Hammers held a strong interest in signing the £19.8m-rated ace permanently after his loan spell, and discussing the midfielder’s future, Gonzo had the following to say.

“It’s a little bit Groundhog Day-ish, however, we understand that the club are genuinely interested in bringing him over from Manchester United, possibly as early as January rather than waiting until his contract expires. Moyes is still keen.”

TIF Thoughts on Lingard’s future…

Now 11 games into the Premier League season, we think Lingard will be full of regret for – reportedly – wanting to give his future at Old Trafford another go.

Over the early stages of the 2021/22 campaign, Lingard has featured in just five Premier League games, which has equated to a total of 63 minutes on the pitch (via Transfermarkt).

It is apparent Lingard has no place in the plans of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, so we think he should be doing everything he can to force a move in January, and with West Ham flying in this season, we think the Hammers make a very attractive destination if they are still interested.

With Lingard now a permanent fixture of the Old Trafford bench and his contract now running into its final months, will United look to offload the midfielder in January? Gonzo certainly seems to believe that could be the case, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
