Alasdair Gold has been speaking on his latest YouTube video to discuss all things Tottenham Hotspur following a busy start to the week for the Lilywhites.

In the space of just over 24 hours, the north London club had said goodbye to Nuno Espirito Santo and welcomed Antonio Conte as their new manager.

Tottenham’s turbulent start to the 2021/22 campaign saw Daniel Levy take decisive action against Espirito Santo, who was only in the hotseat of the Spurs dugout for 124 days after being appointed to replace Jose Mourinho in the summer.

When Spurs confirmed the appointment of the former Inter manager, at the bottom of the official statement was a sentence confirming the Italian’s backroom staff would be confirmed in due course.

However, speaking on his YouTube channel, Spurs correspondent Gold was able to provide an insight on his inside knowledge as to what Conte wants for his backroom staff.

“I’m intrigued to see what happens with his backroom staff. I’m led to believe that it’s five that he wants to bring in. Whether he gets all five, we’ll see. He does have a bigger backroom staff than most coaches – or certainly, Spurs coaches do. So I’ll be intrigued to see how that works.”

TIF Thoughts on fans’ expectations…

This certainly feels like the appointment Spurs fans would have been hoping for back in the summer after they sacked Jose Mourinho.

The arrival of Conte should bring a fresh lease of optimism to the Spurs fans given his incredible record having managed Juventus, Chelsea and Inter, winning major honours at all three (via Transfermarkt).

Reports would suggest Espirito Santo was not high up on the wishlist in the summer and Levy actually had to be persuaded by Fabio Paratici in order to hire the Portuguese manager.

We feel this set the tone from the beginning – however, with a manager who has won league titles in recent years, we feel these Spurs players and fans should be optimistic as to what they can achieve with Conte in charge.

It is still early days in the season and there is only a five-point gap to the top four, while Spurs have a favourable run of fixtures against out-of-form sides coming up in the league, which could well see them close the gap on fourth spot.
