Ahead of the January transfer window, Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Bayer Leverkusen and Germany international forward Florian Wirtz as Nuno Espirito Santo looks to strengthen his squad.

Wirtz, 18, is regarded as one of Europe’s best players at his age. Despite being incredibly young, he has already clocked up 59 senior outings for Leverkusen.

A four-time Germany international, Wirtz has had a hand in 29 goals during his 59 appearances – scoring 15 and creating 14. However, Wirtz has taken his form to a new level in 21-22 campaign.

This season, he has 12 goal involvements in 12 games – scoring six and creating six, with his excellent form consequently catching the eye of several Premier League clubs as a result.

According to German newspapaer Bild, Premier League rivals Liverpool, Manchester City and Newscastle alongside European giants Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Wirtz.

It’s thought that the attacking midfielder would command a fee within the excess of €100m (£90m) as he’s under contract at the BayArena until 2026, so would certainly represent a significant statement from the club and Daniel Levy if they were to make a move for the German star.
