Tottenham Hotspur correspondent Alasdair Gold has been speaking on the latest episode of the Gold & Guest Talk Tottenham podcast to discuss all things Spurs.

One of the main talking points was the injuries sustained to certain individuals throughout the latest international break, with Cristian Romero and Giovani Lo Celso both suffering.

Have you been impressed with Romero so far?

The news comes ahead of Tottenham’s return to Premier League action against Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United on the weekend of Antonio Conte’s first home league game in front of the Spurs fans.

Initial reports have claimed Romero could be out until the beginning of December if his rehabilitation goes to plan, however, Conte said he will have another scan in 7-10 days time.

Speaking about the injury sustained to Tottenham’s 23-year-old defender, Gold had the following to say on what he took from Conte’s latest press conference.

“Romero, he [Conte] sounded quite down about. You know, some of the info kind of going around, mainly from Argentina [suggested] maybe it was a lesser hamstring injury – maybe a grade one type.

“I just don’t know. The way he was speaking, it’s almost like we won’t really know for another week exactly how bad it is. I think you’d normally know if it was an alright one.”

TIF Thoughts on Romero’s absence…

We think this news will come as a blow to Spurs fans, with the Argentine only just beginning to nail down a consistent run of games following a turbulent start to his new life in north London (via Transfermarkt).

Despite this, we are excited to see what players like Joe Rodon, Davinson Sanchez and Japhet Tanganga make of the opportunity.

We feel Sanchez should feel unlucky to find himself out of the Spurs starting XI having played every minute of the opening three games, which saw Spurs keep three clean sheets (via Transfermarkt).

Since arriving at Spurs, Rodon has struggled to secure a consistent spot in the XI, but he did impress for Wales over the international break, so could be given the opportunity to shine by Conte.
