Football insider Fabrizio Romano has been speaking on his latest YouTube video to discuss all things Manchester United related.

Only a matter of days ago, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s future at Old Trafford was subject to serious speculation after their 5-0 defeat at home to Liverpool.

Should United have moved for Conte?

However, the Red Devils bounced back in style on the weekend with an emphatic 3-0 victory away in north London against Tottenham Hotspur, which ultimately saw Nuno Espirito Santo sacked just days after.

Leading up to the game in N17, it was reported talks had taken place with the United board – which included Sir Alex Ferguson – regarding the future of the Norwegian and the decision was made to give Solskjaer an opportunity to turn their form around.

Discussing the thoughts of the United players during the uncertainty of their manager’s future, Romano had the following to say about his inside knowledge of the training ground discussions.

“I’m told that the players, during the week, they were really together trying to help Man United; to also help Ole to show also their responsibilities, because it’s true that the manager maybe has been a problem for Man United in the last weeks, but also the players have to be considered.

“Man United have a fantastic team and they wanted to show their value. So from top players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani to other players in the team and [they] also [had] Raphael Varane back, so Man United had the approach of their best players.”

TIF Thoughts on Solskjaer’s future…

According to reports, there was an awful lot of pressure mounted on the shoulders of Solskjaer following the heavy defeat against Jurgen Klopp’s side the other week and we wonder if the win in north London changes that.

United were convincing winners at the weekend against Spurs, however, they were playing a Tottenham side who were also suffering from a lack of consistency, with their manager clearly on the brink of being sacked himself.

Antonio Conte was linked with Manchester United despite the Norwegian remaining in charge, but it seems the Italian could now be heading to London to replace Espirito Santo.

And we really wonder whether that could prove to be a big missed opportunity for the Red Devils if Conte does join Tottenham.
