A lot of Tottenham Hotspur fans have flocked to Twitter to voice their thoughts on the latest comments to emerge from their Argentinian defender, Cristian Romero.
The 23-year-old defender has joined on an initial loan deal in the summer with the option to make the move permanent for a fee believed to be in the region of £42.5m.
Have you been impressed by Romero so far?
Yes
No
Speaking to Sky Sports, the 23-year-old spoke of his desire to win trophies with Tottenham and help project the club back into the Champions League.
“I came here to compete for trophies and to compete in the Champions League and that is the level I feel we should all be aspiring to reach,” said the Argentine international.
Spurs fans flocked to Twitter as the quotes were relayed and it was apparent there was some concern with the defender’s comments on winning trophies at the club given it has been 13 years since their last major honour.
What did these fans have to say?
“So much love for this man already”
Romero has had a busy start to the 2021/22 campaign with international football and travel restrictions making the defender’s start to life at Tottenham very much stop-start.
The Argentine missed the defeat to Crystal Palace due to travel restrictions but played against Newcastle United on a Sunday despite playing for his nation in the early hours of Friday (UK time) in South America.
Although Spurs have had a shaky start to the 2021/22 season showing a lack of consistency in their results, it seems these fans have been impressed with Romero but there is some concern over his trophy comment.
