A number of Newcastle United fans have responded very well to some recent quotes made by interim manager Graeme Jones. 

After Steve Bruce left his position at the club, his assistant has handed the role on a short-term basis while the club look to find a permanent head coach.

Jones took charge of the Magpies during their 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace and he will be in the same role this weekend as Chelsea visit St. James’ Park.

While doing his media duties ahead of the game, the coach said: “Our job here, right now, is to make this football club as united as it possibly can be for the next manager that’s coming in.”

The club’s official Twitter page shared a video of the moment from the press conference and many Newcastle supporters seemed impressed with what he had to say.

It’s clear to see that whoever the new Magpies boss is, these fans have enjoyed the job Jones has done in restoring some pride among their fanbase.

He only joined the club back in late January but has already made a big impression on Tyneside, helping guide them to safety last season, and then taking the interim head role this term.

Judging from these comments, the fanbase will be more than happy to see him stick around once his temporary position in charge comes to an end.
