Speaking on the latest episode of The View From The Lane podcast, journalist Jack Pitt-Brooke has been speaking about all things Tottenham Hotspur related.

One of the main talking points was the current form of Spurs striker and England captain Harry Kane who has had an unusually slow start to the 2021/22 Premier League campaign.

Should Spurs consider selling Kane in the summer?

Yes

Yes

No

No

In his opening eight appearances in the English top-flight, the 28-year-old has only been able to find the back of the net on one occasion with his strike against Newcastle United (via Transfermarkt).

Speaking about where the future of the Spurs talisman lies after a summer dominated by speculation surrounding a potential move to Manchester City, Pitt-Brooke had the following to say.

(13:30) “The fact is it’s in everyone’s interest for him [Kane] to play well. Whether it’s Kane playing for a move and frankly, the way he’s played at the moment I don’t think [Manchester] City would be tempted to go back in  for him next summer.

“To be honest, I would put that as being very unlikely at this point that he will get City or United coming back in for him next summer. I think it’s much likelier that he will stay and whether that means another contract or seeing out the end of his contract which is still got three and a half seasons to run.

“Whatever happens I think he is going to be at Tottenham for the medium term but, right now, clearly the balance of the team isn’t working.”

TIF Thoughts on Kane’s slow start…

Kane has had slow starts in the past which has seen the striker struggle to score in the opening month of the Premier League season.

However, this seems to be a slow start of a different type as we draw closer to the end of October with Kane still stuck on just the single goal in the league.

The England captain had a summer of speculation surrounding his future with the Lilywhites so that could well be a factor in his slow start in the early stages.

Kane has so far averaged 2.3 shots per game in the league this season, which is much lower than the 3.9 he recorded throughout last season (WhoScored).

With this statistic in mind, it could suggest the lack of creativity that is being spoken about at Spurs could also be a huge factor in Kane’s turbulent start to the campaign.
