According to reports, the north London club are working hard to appoint Antonio Conte as their manager  if they choose to sack Nuno Espirito Santo.

Tutto Mercato outlines Spurs are working towards closing Conte’s appointment, with an agreement potentially being reached in the next few hours between the Lilywhites and the former Juventus, Italy, Chelsea and Inter Milan manager.

The Italian was heavily linked with a move to Spurs this summer as Daniel Levy searched for a replacement for the predecessor Jose Mourinho and interim manager Ryan Mason, eventually opting to appoint former Wolves manager Nuno as their new manager.

However, after an extremally mixed start to the 21/22 campaign, with Spurs currently lying in eight in the Premier League table on 15 points  after eight games, Levy is already allegedly contemplating replacing Nuno as they seek to change their fortunes.

Below is how Spurs fans made of the shock Conte links resurfacing.

What did these Spurs fans make of latest managerial update?

“Absolutely zero chance”

@keano_spurs

“Okay then…. Rubbish”

@Mr_W_V_B

“This mess is on ENIC. A horrible mixture of poor recruitment, inadequate funding and terrible transfer dealings = one league cup in 20 years. Their flawed model has consistently failed. MP, JM and Conte knew it. What hope did 7th choice Nuno really have?”

@SpursJB

“Unfortunately I don’t believe this in the slightest. Conte needs money, Levy/ENIC don’t like spending money. Never going to happen”

@MattCOYS81

“Imagine the tears in the dressing room if he comes in. We’ll never see Dele or Lo Celso okay again”

@iitsJxsh

“The only 1 I could think of is Conte & he definitely doesn’t wanna come to Spurs cos he can see (just like every Spurs fan) that Levy & ENIC aren’t willing to pay for success. He gave them his list before & they shirked at it. Valverde is another good coach but he needs time too”

@TsdSari

“It’s Halloween not April 1st”

@Thomas_R1983

The links to Conte come after Nuno’s side abysmal 3-0 home defeat to Manchester United in the Premier League yesterday, with Nuno’s side desperately hoping to get their campaign back on track when they take on Rafa Benitez’s Everton side at Goodison Park next Sunday.

  • Tony Borg says:

    Levy won’t bring in Conte because he will demand money in the transfer window. Whoever Levy brings in won’t be getting any backing, they’ll be expected to bring success on a budget.
