A collection of Newcastle United fans have reacted with anger after hearing that members of the Saudi-led consortium are pushing for Frank Lampard to be given the job.

With Steve Bruce leaving the club earlier this week, much speculation exists around who could possibly be given the task of leading the club into the first stages of their new era.

Now, a report in The Telegraph has clarified that former assistant coach and current interim manager Graeme Jones will take charge of the club’s next three games.

The story also explained that while Jones will be trusted with the position in the coming weeks, sections within the ownership group want Lampard to be given the managerial role on a full-time basis.

NUFC 360 shared details of the article on its Twitter feed. Naturally, a fair number of supporters were quick to share their thoughts on the situation.

Here’s what these Newcastle fans had to say…

“Aaaagh.”

“Reubens out”
“Please no.”
“We don’t want him. He is inexperienced.”
“This is bad. I don’t rate Lampard.”
“Think I’d prefer Eddie Howe over Lampard.”
“Lampard doesn’t do tactics…he is a future Steve Bruce.”

These supporters certainly aren’t shy about making their feelings known. To be fair to them, such are the Magpies’ current struggles on the pitch, whoever comes in to replace Bruce better be up for the task immediately.

Indeed, Newcastle sit one spot above bottom in the Premier League table and are yet to win a league game all season. Jones will hope to change that during his time in charge, but it’s going to be a pretty big job regardless for whoever eventually gets the nod.
