Plenty of Newcastle United fans have been left angered after Jeff Hendrick claimed his teammates ‘put in a good performance’ in the club’s recent defeat.
In their last Premier League fixture, a double from Wolves striker Hwang Hee-chan was enough to sink the Magpies, even though a goal from Hendrick had pulled the teams level at one point.
The loss means Newcastle have yet to win in the league, and with just three points to their name after seven matches, they look set for a relegation battle this season.
Is Jeff Hendrick good enough for Newcastle United?
Yes
No
However, while speaking in a post-match interview, Hendrick, explained that he felt his team performed well against Wolves, while adding: “I think a draw probably would have been fair enough.”
The quotes emerged online and it didn’t take long before a number of Newcastle supporters shared their opinions on the matter.
Here’s what these Newcastle fans said…
Newcastle did manage to take more shots (eight) than their opposition (seven), as well as having four corners when Wolves had none. But, ultimately, the most important statistic is who scored the most goals.
With Wolves claiming the 2-1 victory, it doesn’t seem as if these fans can find much comfort in the fact that Hendrick believes his side put up a good fight.
The international break will likely now come as a relief to many of the players and fans alike, who will hope to see a change in form when the season picks up again later in October.
