Lots of Tottenham Hotspur fans have flocked to a tweet relaying a post to emerge from Steven Bergwijn over the weekend with the Dutchman currently out injured.

The 23-year-old has been out of action for a number of weeks now following an ankle issue picked up during the last international break with the Netherlands.

Should Bergwijn be starting for Spurs when fit?

Bergwijn did return after the international break, however, the winger aggravated the ankle injury further and has been out since their 2-2 draw against Rennes in the Europa Conference League.

Prior to Spurs’ victory over Aston Villa at the weekend, Bergwijn added to his Instagram story with an image of him in action partnered with an hourglass emoji, which had these Tottenham fans speculating over his potential return.

What did these Spurs fans have to say?

“HUGE if true”

“Can’t wait…”
“lets gooooo we’re gonna win some games again”
“We’re back”
“Stevie’s coming to save us, please”
“Absolutely needed”
“Siuu”

Before last week’s European clash against NS Mura, Nuno Espirito Santo did not provide any sort of insight as to when the Dutchman could make his return.

“In terms of team news nothing has changed, Steven unfortunately is still out. He cannot join the group,” said the Spurs boss.

Spurs finally ended their torrid run of Premier League form against Aston Villa on Sunday without Bergwijn, but it seems these fans are desperate to see the Dutchman back to help bolster their attacking options.
