On the latest One Leeds Fan Channel YouTube video, Connor McGilligan has been discussing the latest in transfer rumours surrounding the Yorkshire club.

One of the main topics discussed by the Leeds United journalist was the future of Kalvin Phillips with reports from Spain suggesting Manchester City to be interested in the midfielder.

Would you be open to Phillips leaving this summer?

The report indicates Pep Guardiola’s side are eyeing up a cut-price deal for the Leeds man with a reported £26m bid in the offing as City look to replace Fernandinho.

City’s 36-year-old Brazilian is now playing into the final year of his current deal with the current Premier League champions raising question marks as to where his future lies.

Discussing the 25-year-old’s future with the Whites, McGilligan had the following to say on the matter amid the latest links to Manchester City.

(5:50) “But Kalvin Phillips, it doesn’t matter if we’re seventh/eighth in the league, or if we’re sixth in the league he’s going to be touted by top, top clubs at this moment in time.

“He is now a stone wall, a mainstay in that England side, which is going to find him admirers from across the globe, really. Not only club football, but international football you’re getting so many eyes on Kalvin Phillips now he’s played in a Euro 2020 final at this moment in time as well.

“And he’s a top-class operator, and he stepped up again, every single season he gets better and better and you don’t think he can do but I think the experience with England has helped him massively.”

TIF Thoughts on Phillips’ future with Leeds…

We completely agree with McGilligan in playing regularly now for England will have only increased the attention from other clubs on the Yorkshire ace.

Just a matter of weeks ago, Phillips was awarded the England national side’s Player of the Year title following his efforts at Euro 2020.

However, the report to emerge suggesting City are interested in a potential £26m bid for the midfielder would, in our opinion, be a total kick in the teeth for Leeds.

For a player who is such a regular in their side and has progressed into the national side, we feel they should be looking for a lot more than that if they are to sell this summer.
