After an hour of football, with the score at 3-0, 15-year-old Archie Gray managed to lose his man with some clever footwork, before sliding an incisive through-ball to Amari Miller who cut inside and finished smartly at the near post.
The Papa John’s Trophy official Twitter page shared a clip of the goal on their feed and the moment of quality caught the attention of many Leeds supporters:
It certainly seems as if the assist from teenager Gray has got these Leeds fans very excited about the future. No doubt, they’ll love the fact that he also happens to be related to club legend Eddie Gray.
The senior Gray won seven honours with the Yorkshire club: two league titles, two Inter-Cities Fairs Cups, an FA Cup, League Cup and Charity Shield. And then went on to manage the side for 184 games across two spells in charge.
Could Leeds get relegated this season?
If his grandson can end up having a career anywhere close to as good as that for Leeds, these supporters will be in for a treat in the coming years.
