A number of Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to bemoan David Turnbull’s performance for the club against Rangers on Sunday.

The former Motherwell attacker endured an ineffective 67 minutes on the pitch before being substituted by Ange Postecoglou, as Rangers came away with the three points.

Filip Helander scored the only goal of the game as he headed in a corner at the back post ahead of Carl Starfelt, powering his effort past Joe Hart to secure the win for Steven Gerrard’s side.

One player who received some backlash for his display in the game was David Turnbull. The midfielder was unable to help Celtic score in the match, with these Hoops supporters flocking to social media to offer their thoughts on how the 22-year-old played.

This showing was particularly disappointing from Turnbull as he scored a hat-trick in his last league match for the Hoops last weekend.

The £4.5m-rated midfielder found the back of the net three times against St Mirren in a 6-0 win, recording a perfect WhoScored rating of 10, but was not able to translate that form into the derby.

Hopefully, he can bounce back from this setback and show between now and the end of the season that he is good enough to consistently make an impact for the club at the top end of the pitch.
