Spurs fans have been slamming the first-half performance of Oliver Skipp in Sunday’s Premier League game against Watford at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The young midfielder has started all three of Spurs’ Premier League fixtures this term after spending last season on loan with Norwich City, where he was a regular in Daniel Farke’s side, helping them win the Championship title.
Despite this, Spurs fans were quick to criticise the Englishman for his first-half display against the Hornets, as he struggled against Watford’s powerful midfield duo of Juraj Kucka and ex-Lilywhites man Moussa Sissoko.
What did Spurs fans have to say about Skipp?
“Players who are useless:- Skipp Tanganga Dele”
“Tanganga and Dele and Skipp have been so poor.”
“Don’t see what’s special about Skipp.”
“Skipp poor for the 3rd game in a row, I dont care if he’s 20, he hasn’t been good”
“I’m not convinced that Skipp and Tanganga are still ready to start every match.”
“Skipp reminds me of Mark Noble.”
“Skipp is so bad.”
“You can judge a player by their name. There’s no way Oliver Skipp is good”
“Skipp you’re a btec Winks blud”
Was Skipp poor in the first half?
Although Skipp didn’t have the best first half of his career, Spurs, in general, only just edged the affair going into half-time at 1-0, so it seems very premature of these fans to write him off completely based on this.
The 20-year-old still has a big future at Spurs and playing regular first-team football in the Premier League is only going to see him improve, so it is disappointing to see these fans criticising him so quickly.
