Football journalist Ryan Taylor has been sharing some details regarding Watford attacker Andre Gray and the possibility of him leaving the club this summer.

This comes after Taylor made an appearance on a recent video from the Mirror Football YouTube channel, where he spoke about a variety of transfer-related topics concerning a number of Premier League clubs.

Who scored the opening goal in Liverpool's 4-3 win over Leeds United at Anfield in September?

On the subject of Gray, who has been linked with a move away from Watford this summer, Taylor had this to say on the situation.

He said: “With clubs like Watford, it’s imperative that they move some of the players on before they spend, and Andre Gray is on a reported £70,000 a week, and that’s proving an issue in terms of trying to offload him.

“He’s quite happy to see out the remainder of his contract.

“There’s been quite strong interest from the Championship from the likes of Middlesbrough, QPR, Birmingham, about taking him on loan, but, obviously, that would involve them having to pay a significant portion of his wages, which, that kind of money for a Championship club is not really viable.”

TIF Thoughts on Ryan Taylor’s comments on Gray and a potential move away from Watford this summer…

Given how the 30-year-old only managed to score five goals in 30 appearances in the Championship last season, ultimately earning himself a rather underwhelming overall match rating of 6.27/10, making him the lowest-rated Watford player last term to have started more than two league games according to WhoScored, it’s understandable why the attacker has yet to make an appearance for the club in the Premier League in 2021/22.

Do you think Andre Gray is good enough to play for Watford?

Despite what Taylor had to say about some Championship clubs being interested in signing Gray on loan this summer, it seems surprising to us that they would be, considering how disappointing he was last season.

In our view, if Gray would be willing to perhaps take a pay cut to join a Championship club on loan, this could well be a better option for him than staying at Watford if he isn’t likely to be playing regularly this season, which would be understandable given how poor he was for them in their previous campaign.
