Sheffield United fans have responded online after some news broke regarding the future of one of their star players.

After weeks of speculation, it looks as though Blades’ goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale is set to remain at the club. Indeed, The Athletic has now reported that negotiations between the club and Arsenal have broken down.

The main issue is believed to be down to the player’s price tag. The article claims that Arsenal ‘hoped to pay around half’ of United’s £35m valuation to land Ramsdale.

The Bladesman shared the news on Twitter and a number of Sheffield United supporters expressed their opinions in the comments.

What did these Sheffield United fans have to say?

“Excellent, Stand your ground, unless you’re getting a good fee. No need to sell.”

“Let’s go.”

“Best news I had for a long time.”
“OMG YES.”
“Things you love to see.”

It’s clear to see these fans are particularly enthused about the idea of the club’s first-choice ‘keeper remaining with the team.

Ramsdale was awarded the Sheffield United player of the season (and young player) trophy last year, though he couldn’t do enough to prevent the Blades from suffering relegation.

Having only signed the goalkeeper in 2020 for a fee of £18.5m, it’s understandable that the club’s hierarchy would not sell him for anything other than a tidy profit.

It now looks like Arsenal will have to search elsewhere if they want to sign a new ‘keeper this summer.
