On the Last Word On Spurs’ latest YouTube video, transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has been speaking about all things regarding Tottenham Hotspur.

One name which has hit the headlines over the last few days is Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez with a bid from Spurs reportedly agreed on for the Argentine.

Do you want Spurs to sign Martinez this summer?

Yes

Yes

No

No

However, it is believed Romelu Lukaku’s expected move to Chelsea has dented Tottenham’s chances of landing the 23-year-old this summer.

It is also thought that the bid for Martinez was worth in excess of £60m, and Romano now thinks it would take a bid worth much more than that to prise the striker away from Inter.

Discussing what Spurs would have to do to be able to secure the services of Martinez this summer, Romano revealed a potential price tag that could sway Simone Inzaghi’s side.

“What they say now is after selling Romelu Lukaku, we can’t sell also our key player and star player like Lautaro Martinez.

“At the moment, [the] situation of Lautaro Martinez is really complicated. We will see if it will change in the coming days, but as of now, Inter are saying no, no way.

“If there was a chance I would say right now, it [would be] for €90m and not for €70m, so add-ons were key to understand if maybe Tottenham will try again, it has to be with add-ons [at] around €90m.”

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

We think the future of Harry Kane will have a huge say on this potential deal for Martinez.

If Kane is to stay, then do Spurs really need to splash the cash for Martinez if it is likely to cost them in the region of €90m (£76m)?

We think that money could be put to much better use this summer by adding to their defence following the signing of Cristian Romero.

Unless Kane is to leave, we think Spurs fans would much rather see the club put their money towards bringing in another top-quality centre-back to address the defensive issues they encountered last campaign.
