Celtic fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest news to emerge concerning Kristoffer Ajer.
This comes after the official Celtic Twitter account shared a post revealing that Ajer has left the Parkhead club and joined English Premier League side Brentford.
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Hoops supporters, who were quick to share their thoughts on the situation.
So, what did these Celtic fans have to say in response to the club’s post about Ajer’s departure?
Some Hoops fans were not too bothered about seeing the defender leave the club.
“One of the ones who thinks he’s better than he is. Done well but found out against some average European sides. Invest the lot in new players to help Ange. Preferably players HE wants”
“Goodbye & Good riddance to a player who was more interested in money than success hope #Brentford get relegated”
“So long as the money is invested in players who want to play for Celtic and not Brentford”
“Never rated him myself and can’t believe we got that money. He got paid to do a job and was mediocre at it. Thinks the U-bend of the EPL is better and a step up”
Other Celtic fans, however, were feeling rather disheartened about Ajer’s departure.
“I am so sad.”
“Gutted your leaving Kris. Best of luck down south”
“I canny believe he’s gone”
Looking at the replies to this post, it seems as though Ajer’s departure to Brentford has resulted in a rather mixed reception from these Celtic fans, with some happy to see him leave and others sad to see him move on.
In our view, given how only Callum McGregor made more appearances for Celtic in the last season than Ajer and the fact that only four Celtic players racked up a higher overall rating than the Norwegian (7.16/10) that played in more than 10 league games according to WhoScored, we feel that Ajer will be a miss for the Hoops moving forward.
Are you disappointed by Ajer's departure?
Yes
No
However, with the club recently securing Carl Starfelt from Rubin Kazan, at least they have a new face in the squad to replace Ajer.
