Many Celtic fans have been talking about comments from Ko Itakura that emerged on social media.
Ko Itakura, who has been linked with a move to Celtic, was recently speaking to Groningen-related magazine Word Groter and he talked about his future.
Should Celtic sign Itakura?
Yes
No
He stated that his loan spell at Groningen allowed him to put himself on the map and he also learned how to communicate in a new language. He also stated that he dreams of playing for a world-famous club so that everyone knows who he is.
These comments from the Japanese were relayed on Twitter by Everything Celtic. Many Bhoys fans began talking about the defender.
What did Celtic fans make of Itakura?
“Has he not just got 1 year left on his contract? Would be nice if we could negotiate an option to buy looks quality and we’d have a Japanese friend for Furuhashi.”

These Celtic fans clearly want Itakura at the club and they’re making their views clear about the Japanese defender.
Celtic have signed Carl Starfelt from Rubin Kazan already, with Kristoffer Ajer having departed for Premier League side Brentford.
The Hoops also had Shane Duffy at the club last season and while he has returned to Brighton & Hove Albion, the Hoops have otherwise only added Osaze Urhoghide to their defence.
So they might need a more experienced centre-back option to potentially replace Duffy’s presence. Itakura acquired a lot of first-team experience in the Netherlands. Since he’s currently a Manchester City player and Celtic have had many exchanges with City, this might be a move worth pursuing.
