Newcastle's all-time top Premier League goalscorer is Alan Shearer but how many goals did he score for the club?

The post also added that “the option of extending the contracts of Paul Dummett and Fabian Schar into the 2021/22 season have also been exercised.”

This post then quickly grabbed the attention of a lot of Toon supporters, who were not shy in sharing their thoughts on this latest announcement.

So, what did these Newcastle fans have to say in response to this announcement from the club?

“Fantastic news!!!!!”

@Cosseycj

“Top six then”

@Namelessghoul32

“Phenomenal lads. Had me worried when I didn’t see Fede in the training photos yesterday”

@PotterNUFC

Absolutely delighted with Murphy and Fernandez signing new deals. Two of our most underrated players last season. #NUFC

@mark_murphy890

“Decent. Hopefully the next one signed is a new player and not Carroll.”

@JamNUFC4

Finally #nufc

@Ginkohro

Looking at the replies to this post, it seems as though these Newcastle fans are delighted to see some of these players put pen to paper on new deals at St. James’ Park.

However, in our view, it’s hard to see why the club chose to offer Gayle, in particular, a new deal considering he only managed to score one goal, provide one assist and ultimately earn himself a disappointing overall season rating of 6.21/10, making him the lowest-rated Newcastle player to have started a league game, according to WhoScored.

Moving forward, it will be interesting to see if any other current Toon players renew their contracts this summer and if the club manages to sign any new players before the summer transfer window closes.
