Football journalist Dean Jones has been discussing this summer’s potential transfer dealings on the latest episode of The Football Terrace’s The Done Deal Show

According to the transfer insider, he would not be surprised if Tottenham Hotspur were to make a potential move for Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Adama Traore.

Should Spurs make a move for Traore this summer?

The north London side’s search for a new permanent manager came to a conclusion last week when Daniel Levy appointed the former Wolves manager, Nuno Espirito Santo.

The Spanish winger featured heavily under Espirito Santo when he was at Molineux, with Traore making 131 appearances across all competitions (via Transfermarkt).

Discussing the possibility of Spurs making a summer swoop for the 25-year-old, Jones had the following to say on the matter.

“Just keep an eye out on Adama Traore. Not saying that he necessarily is what Tottenham need, but when Nuno was going to go to Crystal Palace, he wanted them to do a deal for Adama Traore as part of him coming in.

“And Palace were kind of open to it, but only if he signed his papers first, and he didn’t, so that whole thing broke down. But [it] wouldn’t surprise me if Adama’s on the radar as well.”

TIF Thoughts on a potential Traore switch to Spurs…

Traore is currently valued at £27m by Transfermarkt and we question whether spending that kind of money on a winger would be the best use of Tottenham’s transfer funds.

Espirito Santo did strike a fruitful partnership between Matt Doherty and Traore during his time at Wolves, however, Spurs already have a number of wingers in their squad, so a move for the wide-man could be considered a surprise.

The Spaniard did not find his best form in the 2020/21 campaign, which saw him only rack up six goal involvements in his 41 appearances across all competitions – can Spurs afford to take that risk as they look to return to Champions League football?
