West Bromwich Albion fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest news to emerge regarding Baggies attacker Matheus Pereira and his future at The Hawthorns.

This comes after West Brom-focused Twitter account @WBAReport shared a post relaying comments originally made by Baggies manager Valerien Ismael (via Express & Star).

The Brazilian being linked with a move away from West Brom in recent weeks, with journalist Ekrem Konur claiming that Al Hilal have made a move to sign Pereira this summer.

Ismael said that he and Pereira “spoke really openly about the situation,” that the Brazilian told Ismael that he is “focused” and that he would give 100% to the club moving forward.

This post then gathered a lot of replies from Baggies fans, who were not shy in sharing their thoughts on this latest development.

So, what did these West Brom fans have to say in response to Ismael’s comments about Pereira?

Wow .. Announced promotion”

@AndyColclough

“I don’t wanna get my hopes up but I already have”

@SamuelRoberts01

“Sounds promising, hope we can keep him.”

@ItsSamson2

“Great attitude.”

@hrp6

“So you’re telling me there’s a chance”

@WBAfan2003

Keep him and we go back up. Simple as that #WBA

@JamieTheo2

Looking at the replies to this post, it seems as though this group of Baggies fans are feeling rather pleased by what Ismael had to say about Pereira’s current situation at the club.

Are you confident Pereira will stay at West Brom this summer?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Given how the Brazilian ended the 2020/21 season as West Brom’s joint-highest-rated player with an overall rating of 6.96/10 (alongside Okay Yokuslu) with 11 goals and six assists to his name according to WhoScored, it’s understandable why these Baggies fans would be very keen to see Pereira stay at the club this summer.

In our view, if West Brom do keep Pereira in their squad for next season, then he would surely provide them with a stronger chance of winning promotion back to the Premier League based on what he did for the club last season, as well as during his previous campaign in the second tier.
