On the latest instalment of the U Irons podcast, Roshane Thomas and Sam Delaney agreed that David Gold and David Sullivan’s decision to sell Grady Diangana has ‘been vindicated’.
The Hammers hierarchy made the controversial decision to sell the academy graduate to Premier League rivals West Bromwich Albion last summer in an £18m deal.
Large sections of the fanbase, as well as club captain Mark Noble, let their disappointment with the decision be known at the time.
However, while David Moyes’ men have gone on to have a fabulous season and are currently in contention to finish in the Champions League places, Diangana has struggled to make an impact at The Hawthorns.
Although Gold and Sullivan have often come in for criticism from the fans of the capital club for their decision-making, Thomas and Delaney agree that they got this one correct.
Thomas said: “He [Sullivan] said, there is no regret over selling Grady Diangana. I think we can all agree with that now, no regrets whatsoever.”
Delaney replied: “Well to be fair, that is the point at which people got angriest. And to be fair, that decision has been vindicated. You can’t argue that anymore.”

West Ham’s attacking talents have been key to their success this season, with Jesse Lingard, Jarrod Bowen and Pablo Fornals racking up 20 Premier League goals and 12 league assists between them.
On the other hand, Diangana has bagged just one top-flight goal for West Brom in 2020/21, failing to record any assists and playing just 18 minutes of first-team football since January 2.
Gold and Sullivan may not get every decision right, but it’s hard to argue that they haven’t been fully vindicated on this occasion.
