Journalist Carl Anka has recently talked about Mark Noble and his situation at West Ham.

On the latest episode of the Totally Football Show podcast, Anka spoke about West Ham’s loss to Newcastle United. He gave his views about Noble and his future at the club.

Anka believes that Noble should not be leading the West Ham midfield and while the Englishman is trying his hardest, he can’t be playing in a midfield that wants to compete at Champions League level.

Does Noble deserve to play regularly?

Earlier this year, Noble signed a new contract with West Ham and he wrote a letter to the fans about his future. The midfielder made it clear that while he was extending his contract with the club, he will leave at the end of next season (as per The Guardian).

When talking about Noble, Anka stated: “I think one thing for West Ham is Mark Noble should not have the keys to that midfield anymore. They are definitely suffering from an injury to Declan Rice and while Mark Noble is continuing his hardest and will want to play on one more season, no, I don’t think he should be the starting option for a team of Champions League aspirations.”

Nice easy one to start off with. How much do you think Declan Rice is worth?

TIF Thoughts on Noble…

Noble, who is valued at £2.70m, has made 23 appearances in all competitions this season, playing 19 times in the Premier League so far (as per Transfermarkt).

The 33-year-old picked up a disappointing rating of 6.4 against Newcastle and in the league, he has picked up a rating of 6.17 so far (as per Whoscored).

As many as 21 West Ham players have picked up a better rating than him, which shows that perhaps Noble indeed isn’t good enough for the club’s midfield now.
